The only side affect I have had with it is swelling in my hands (more than usual). I called and checked with my doctor about this and he says thats a normal side affect w/ some acid reflex meds. If not, it could be "sticking" in your throat and causing the burning. If not, chances are you've sustained some acid damage to your esophogous and it just needs time to heal. It is safe, soothes nicely, and works longer than anything else I've used during pregnancy. You need a script for it. Ask the Dr if you can still use the ppi with Carafate.
