what are the differences in symptoms between intestinal yeast infection and acid reflux? My doctor thought I had acid reflux but the medication hasn’t helped at all. I seem to be getting worse. I have extreme nausea especially in the morning and can barely function. I also have been dizzy, some stomach pains, diarrhea, and loss of appitte. My mom thinks it may be a yeast problem? Could this be?

From your description it sounds as though two seperate things could be the culprit… My first notion would be Celiac Disease. This is an autoimmune disorder that causes your body to attack the villi in your intestines. Symptoms of Celiac Disease are very varied and can include any of the following: nausea, diarrhea, fatty or pale colored stools, dizziness, stomach cramps or pains, loss of appetite, lethargy, chronic fatigue, malnutrition, anemia, headaches, migraine headaches, joint pain, acid reflux (sometimes untreatable), brain fog… There are many, many symptoms and a Celiac can suffer from all symptoms, one symptom, or even no symptoms. Regardless, when left untreated the attack on the intestines can cause many problems including cancer, osteoperosis, osteopenia, among others. Please get yourself tested (simple blood test) or try a gluten free diet. For more information on Celiac Disease, visit http://www.Celiac.com and http://www.glutenfreeforum.com. The other thing that it could be is Candida. Some doctors don’t believe that it is possible to have an overgrowth of Candida, but others believe it is possible. Google Candida for a list of symptoms and treatments. Candida symptoms generally are similar to those of Celiac Disease. Good luck! I hope they figure out what’s wrong.
Actually, it sounds to me as if you have some sort of infection, maybe a touch of e. coli. Have you been to taco bell lately? There have been some confirmed cases of that……..
Make sure to tell your doctor that the medicine is not working. He or she will need to know that so they can look for other causes. Could you be pregnant? Maybe it’s an ulcer or an overgrowth of H. pylori, which is a bacteria that can cause problems in the stomach. The key is to communicate your symptoms very clearly to your doctor. Good Luck!
Although you should have tests to illiminate other things yes it could be IBS…which may in part be because of yeast in the intestines. IBS can cause nausea and stomach pains. the Diarrhea can cause the dizziness…..be sure you eat and drink enough which I know isn’t easy when your nauseated.
Journal what you eat with your symptoms to see if your eating some big triggers for you.
Probiotics are a great treatment for IBS!
