Could this be throat cancer?
Lately my throat has been feeling weird. When I swallow it feels like I have something stuck in my throat, hoarness in my voice (sometimes, especially in the morning), my throat feels raspy like dry. I also feel like I have a stiff neck. My left side is stiff and can’t put my head down or turn it to the left completely without feeling pain. Almost everyone in my family has had cancer. Not throat cancer but, a some type of cancer. As I speak right now my mom is in treatment, she has liver and bone cancer. I am 24 yrs old I do not smoke and I drink once a month or every 2 months. I also have to be clearing my throat because it feels raspy. I went to the dr and she told me that she does not think that I have throat cancer that my problem is most likely associated with acid reflux. She says that my symptoms are most likely associated with that. She send me to see an ENT (ear, nose and throat) dr. My appointment is on the Thursday. I have not stop crying because I am so scared.
I’ve been also sleeping with the fan on and I also sleepy with my mouth open so I don’t know if that might be the problem. People have told me that it could be allergies too. I suffer of bad allergies but, in the skin and eyes so this would be new too me and wouldnt understand why now and not before? Also my mom says that it might be a throat infection but, I can come to the conclusion of how I would get a throat infection. What can cause a throat infection?

Well don’t count your chickens b 4 they hatch…. Wait and see what the ent says, then go from there…. It does sound more like acid reflux, and knowing that you sleep with a fan, that’s not good either…. especially if it’s right on you… I would wait and see what they say… Another thing you might want to think about is, if you have acid reflux, your bowl movements, or stomach pains when you eat spicy food, and does it bother you after you eat certain foods. etc…. Otherwise my prayer and thoughts are with you. Good Luck, and I will be praying for you and your family.
Have you been sleeping somewhere new? may be you are sleeping in an akward position so getting stiff neck. or may be you have allergies so breathing badly in your sleep, leading to sore throat, etc?
oh hun im sry.
but im having exactly the SAMETHING rite now.
for the past 4months i feel like i have suttim stuck on my throat, i tried everything. i tho i had a cold in the beggnin but then af.takin all the medicines and throat spray and sm no results i got a lil scared. i went to 2diff doctors and guess what? THEY TOLD M EXC.WHAT UR DOC TOLD U.
yup. they said that its prob.acid reflux, especially bcuz ive bn under a lot of stress lately, and going tru a lot, then it can act.react a lil more 2it. i also went to c GI doctor. and she told me that id prob.need a endoscopy, and she also said its acid reflux. so my point is if ur doc said theres nothing wrong. dont b killin urself w.that tho that there may b suttim worse. maybe ur having this also bcuz ur under a lil presure. as u said ur mom is sick, and cancer runs in ur family.then u get worried and the acid reflux may react a lil more 2it. try to relax. and wait until u c ur doc. but try not to b makin ur own judjments, hope u feel better soon.
*God bless.
Although some forms of cancer are passed down, do not concern yourself too greatly with this. You are most likely too young for throat cancer as long as you don’t smoke aren’t around second hand smoke, or some other form of external pollutant. If you are taking anything for your allergies it is most likely the cause. They work by drying out parts of your body that absorb the allergens. Also, the fan could be a cause. If it’s hot and you live in a dry environment purchase a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Acid reflux is another possible cause but I’m sure your doc filled you in about that. Good Luck, stay strong and continue to go to the doctor when necessary.
Repeated exposure of the larynx to chemical irritation associated with acid reflux results in inflammation of the larynx (laryngitis) with symptoms as hoarseness of voice, vocal fatigue and voice breaks. The effects of pharyngeal irritation are usually experienced as sore throat. A therapeutic trial of proton pump inhibitors should be attempted twice daily e.g. omeprazole.
