If your baby is having a hard time keeping formula down perhaps projectile vomiting that is a sign. If you suspect you you should see a Dr. and they will perform an Upper GI on them. It’s an xray somewhat, but as the baby is getting the pictures done you will feed them a bottle of a chalky substance and the images so whether it’s coming back up or not. We had to do this when my son was 3 weeks old.
My nephew had severe acid reflux which was proved through the upper gi and had to have surgery because he had an extra flap around his esophagus, he was switched to soy milk and now at 2 years old he still has problems with it and has been put on Zantac.
i’m not sure. but my sister is 5 years old now. we adopted her when she was two. and since then she has had acid reflex. and she would throw up every time she lied down after she ate. and if she ate a variety of foods, then the same thing would happen. now she takes medicine every night a few hours before bedtime. hope i helped!
ask the dr as this can sooo be mis diagnosed
acid reflex is a band acid reflux is a medical condition. i have a new baby don’t believe the doctors on this one they’ll just put the baby on expensive medications. seek alternative medications.
Look for projectile vomiting. Spitting up a whole feeding. Possible diaper rash from stomach acid coming out the other end. Fussiness. Oh and a cough from aspirating milk – which could lead to an infection.
My daughter had/has reflux. We held her upright for 10 – 20 minutes after each feeding. Or at least not laying her on her back. We held her usually on our chest or arm cradle. Smaller frequent feedings. Doctor put her on 15mg Prevacid. We used the powder mixed with water and gave it to her. Horribly Horrible sweet stuff. Took forever to get her to eat it (6 weeks old). Switched to 15 mg capsules – just open the capsule and sprinkled on a baby spoon of baby applesauce and fed it to her. Much easier. Cough, rash, vomiting cleared up within a week. She’s 10 months now and we just stopped the Prevacid – we’re waiting to see if her symptoms return. So far all is well. Good luck.
Formula seems to be trial and error, but if it’s true reflux, it won’t matter much. She’ll likely need meds to control it. I don’t know personally because I’m nursing my daughter. Though friends said it didn’t matter. One couple I know got to a formula that’s $12 a can and still didn’t help much. Talk with the pediatrician.
