Heartburn and Acid reflux for past 3 weeks, what’s wrong with me?
I’ve been having bad heartburn, and now acid reflux for the past 3 weeks. The heartburn keeps me up at night and radiates into my back in the same spot as it is in the front. I don’t have insurance right now (just major medical) because we started our own business in the past year, so I don’t want to go to the Dr. if this is something that might pass… my diet is the same as always, no new foods. Also I’m a 26 year old female. Anyone have the same issues if so what is causing it?
Thanks for any help!

sounds like your acid reflux is severe could it be due to the stress of starting up your new business.here are some things to try over the counter, but you really should see your physician a.s.a.p. Step-up. With a step-up drug approach the patient first tries an H2 blocker drug, which is available over the counter. They include famotidine (Pepcid AC), cimetidine (Tagamet HB), ranitidine (Zantac 75), and nizatidine (Axid AR). If the condition fails to improve, therapy is "stepped up" to the more powerful proton-pump inhibitor, usually omeprazole (Prilosec). i highly recommend
Step-down. A step-down approach first uses a more potent agent, most often a proton-pump inhibitor (PPIs), such as omeprazole (Prilosec). When the patient has been symptom-free for 2 months or longer, he or she is then "stepped down" to a half-dose. If symptoms do not recur, the drug is withdrawn. If symptoms recur, the patient is put on high-dose H2 blockers. In one study using this step-down approach, 58% of patients remained symptom free after a year, with 27% not using any medications at all. Some physicians argue that that the step-down approach should be used for most patients with moderate to severe GERD. you can do the step down it may eliviate the pain sooner-however if you have no relief please go to your doctor so they can write you a script for stronger meds and evaluate how much damage is done-one further note untreated this could lead to devastating effects and an appointment should be under $200.00-you are surely worth that
Don’t play around with chest pain that you may think is heartburn, get checked out to make sure, to be on the safe side, no amount of money means loseing your life to a heart attack because you don’t have insurance, the ER will not turn you away.
If you drink a small amount of water and take 1-2 teaspoons of honey at the time of heartburn, you get rid of the burning sensation. This, of course, does not cure acid reflux but it relieves heartburn.
Permanent relief from heartburn is only possible by remedying acid reflux disease.
On the other hand, it may not mean Much to go to a doctor because health professionals now claim severe criticism about medical approach to cure acid reflux disease. They say it does not cure but it only gives symptomatic relief. You can read one at:

Cutting down on crunchy food (chips, etc.), acidic beverages and alcohol may help.
