However, my daughter has been misdiagnosed for years for strep throat, when in fact, she had Gastric Esophageal Reflux Disease. I felt SO guilty, because I didn't realize it sooner. But she has had it since birth, and she said she thought it was "normal" to have reflux. I even took her to her ped dr. MANY times over the years, and HE misdiagnosed it. Find a good Gastrointerologist--a Pediatric one if you are under 17 yrs. of age. Also, elevate the head of your bed. Don't eat after 7 pm No coffee or soda no spicy foods The biggest culprit is eating 4 hours before lying down. Technically no. If you had bad enough reflux that acid was spending enough time in your mouth to cause problems, you'd be miserable. I'd guess that if a person is truly getting recurrent strep throat, then 1) they're getting reinfected, 2) they don't complete the full course of antibiotics, or 3) their immune system is weakend for some reason. Not that I’ve ever heard of. If you had bad enough reflux that acid was spending enough time in your mouth to cause problems, you’d be miserable.

I’d guess that if a person is truly getting recurrent strep throat, then 1) they’re getting reinfected, 2) they don’t complete the full course of antibiotics, or 3) their immune system is weakend for some reason.
