How can apple cider vinegar help acid reflux?
I read on the Internet all over that apple cider vinegar is a good remedy for acid reflux. My question is, how is this possible? They say the acid in the vinegar mimics the acid in your stomach and therefore it helps. But acid reflux is a result off TOO MUCH acid already…that has to be the case, since every medication they sell for it says ‘Acid Reducer.’ If acid reflux resulted from too little acid, you would certainly not need to reduce it. So how would taking anything acidic, like apple cider vinegar, help acid reflux at all? Wouldn’t it just make it even worse? I’m confused.

Actually, you’re really close… Acid Reflux is the result of too much OR not enough stomach acid.
One big problem in the theory of antacids is that when the stomach runs low on acid, the body produces more of it to finish digesting the food, which is why the acid always seems to come back after taking an antacid. Now, if you took the ACV, that’s adding a little more acid, so the body tries to regulate it and doesn’t produce more, but will keep things moving along, which will naturally reduce that over-acidity. The acid blockers are another story and are much more dangerous in the long run than antacids, but I’ll save you that story unless you’d like to hear it.
I hope that helps… some natural things are confusing until some of the background details are pointed out.
Be very careful!!
Acid reflux can develop into far more serious conditions quite quickly!!
Barrats esophagus or even cancer!! It can also mask other conditions such as heart problems!!
The sensible thing to do is see a doctor and get a correct diagnosis!!
Treatment is dietary such as avoiding cheese, oranges, tomatoes, fried stuff and alcohol. Coupled with a tablet called a protein pump inhibitor which limits the amount of acid you produce.
Good luck
acid reflux can be caused by too much acid or not enough apple cider vinegar well help some people and others it will do nothing at all
ACV is acidy, but it actually makes your body less acidy. It is on the alkaline side so it actually helps with acid reflux. It is also very good for your body in many ways. I’ve had heart burn and acid reflux and I’ve used ACV for it and it works. Stop thinking and trying to figure out how it works, it just does.
It can’t help with acid reflux, acid reflux is when acid goes into the esophagus where it shouldn’t be and is caused by a weak cardiac sphincter. Acid indigestion is caused by excess acid and also cannot be helped by apple cider vinegar. Anyway, if it was true that those problems were caused by a lack of acid you wouldn’t need to drink something so vile tasting as apple cider vinegar, you could just have a coke which has about the same pH. In my personal experience acidic drinks like coke and orange juice CAUSE acid indigestion, not cure it.
You need to tweak your system from acidic to alkaline – the best way is to drink only alkalized water. When you change your water ( stop drinking soda – bottled water (aka reverse osmosis water) and power drinks which all range from pH 3 for soda to pH 5.5 for bottled water(all acidic) to Alkaline water with a 9.5 pH will convert your food supply somewhat to Alkaline and therefore relieve you of Acid reflux – You will learn that our body will heal itself as long as we maintain an alkaline food supply. The acidic food we eat will continue to be converted by the alkaline water if you drink enough every day. Sodas and power drinks are the highest in Acidic it take over 30 glasses of 9.5pH water to convert just one can of soda.
