Acid Reflux Archives

Why might my face become hot and flushed suddenly?

Sometimes, well quite often in fact, my face becomes very hot and red, along with my ears. It doesn’t seem to follow any kind of pattern and I can’t attribute any kind of cause to it – it just randomly turns bright red and very hot. It’s quite uncomfortable, and takes a while – sometimes up to an hour or more – to die down.

Does anybody have any ideas as to a cause?

I am a female, 26 years old, I have the Implanon contraceptive implant, and suffer from Crohn’s Disease (but am not currently receiving treatment, apart from Esomeprazole 40mg for acid reflux), if that helps shed any light on the matter.

he swears it works and will not hurt him.otherwise he will vomit all night

Acid reflux question (Prilosec OTC)?

I have been taking Prilosec OTC (Proton Pump Inhibitors) for a year and 4 months to treat symptoms of acid reflux. I ingest one (1) 20mg dose daily to treat symptoms including sore throat and burning sensation in throat. Over the last few weeks, I have been encountering additional symptoms that include chronic cough, throat irritation, and Laryngospasm (feeling like one can’t catch one’s breath), and Continual Throat Clearing. I have researched these symptoms and concluded that I may have laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). Do to this I have a series of question to ask below for assistance:
•Are there any long term effects of taking Prilosec OTC? I have researched and discovered they may cause osteoporosis in the future. I take calcium citrate to attempt to offset signs of osteoporosis. Is this the correct thing to do? Is there any other long term effects? (i.e.cancer etc.)
•Are there any home remedies (things I can do) to completely cure Acid reflux and laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)? Currently I am unemployed and do not have any medical insurance so if there is anything I can do at home or buy over the counter to relieve this it would be a great help.
•Would this problem require me to have any type of surgery if left untreated for an extended period of time? (can this be fixed without surgery) How long would this have to linger to force surgery?
•I have not been having a great diet I eat what I want and drink alcohol (once a week) so this might be the root of all this but over time I don’t want to get really sick from this.
•Is acid reflux common?
•Anything else you can tell me to prevent this from getting serious or requiring surgery.
Thank you for your time.

Is it okay to premake formula with rice cereal in it?

Just wondering if it’s okay to premake infant formula with rice cereal in it? My daughter just got moved up to 5 ounces and she is underweight so her pediatrician wants to add a little bit of rice cereal to each bottle to help her gain weight (she also has acid reflux so it is supposed to help with that too). I wanted to make her formula ahead of time because there is no measurement for 5 ounces, her formula is 1 scoop per 2 oz. Just trying to get this whole mommy thing down and do things right,,,thanks for any advice that anyone can give me!

what are the causes of acid reflux?

Does anyone have acid reflux?

My mom is 45 yrs old, healthy, does not smoke, is not over weight or under weight. She has had problems with acid reflux for about a year now. lately she has been having dizzy spells, shortness of breath and a very sore tight chest. It seems to be getting worse every day. She says it hurts to talk, hurts to breathe, feels dizzy, and her chest hurts in general. She has gone to Emerg several times and they just tell her its due to her acid reflux and send her home. She is on medication for acid reflux, but it hasnt been doing anything to help her. she does not eat spicy foods, or acidic foods, everything is bland and nothing is helping. Could she possibly have something other than acid reflux? the doctors (family doctor, clinics, and ER) all just seem to be dismissing her and blaming it on her acid reflux. Any opinions? experiences? anyone with acid reflux have this as well?

How much should a baby puke after having a Nissen?

My son had severe reflux as an infant. At 8 weeks he had a Nissen Fundoplication to stop the reflux. Last night and today he’s been throwing up stomach acid all day. I was under the impression he shouldn’t be refluxing at all anymore and he hasn’t since the surgery (until today). Is this normal for a baby with a Nissen or should I be worried?
